A month after we finished the Exhibits-Only version of The Night Journey, and a month before its inaugural exhibition at the SIGGRAPH Art Gallery, we gathered at the home of Scott Fisher, the chair of the USC Cinema's, Interactive Media Division. Bill asked for the meeting. He explained that on the Summer solstice he made a drawing for each of us.

This is his gift to me. Titled The Bird of Vision.

The bird is drawn over the landscape that I built for the videogame. Bill explained that the bird is half over the darkness and half over the light, but that if u look closely its beak it pointing towards the light. In that moment I realized that I was not very good at hiding my dark side, and that his drawing reflected an optimism he saw in and/or had about me. I reflect on that moment whenever I find myself in darkness.
